Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula is a heavenly destination, where the mythical Aegean waters lap the wildly rugged coastline and traces of ancient history mix with crisp, contemporary abodes. Gündoğan is a peaceful coastal town, home to traditional Turkish restaurants, beach clubs and luxury hotels alike, with picturesque sailboats bobbing out in the bay. Wander into town on Wednesdays to visit the local market: sample fresh fruit, chat to the locals and perhaps find a trinket to take home. More active spirits may wish to make a beeline for the hills, where beautiful coastal walks and pine forest trails await. Otherwise, the calm waters of the bay create prime conditions for watersports such as waterskiing or paddle boarding.
