Merano
For a taste of culture, head into the historic city of Merano and begin with a stroll through the Merano Arcades, an 800-year old shopping street lined with cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Continue your journey through time at Trauttmansdorff Castle; the castle itself houses a museum dedicated to the history of Alpine tourism, but it’s the sprawling botanical gardens with their stunning mountain views that are truly unmissable.
Prefer to get active? You’re in the perfect spot for making the most of the surrounding scenery. Take the cable car up to the Merano 2000 mountain resort; in warmer months, you can enjoy hiking and mountain biking, whilst in winter it transforms into a ski and snowboarding paradise.
