You’ll be staying in Analipsi, just over three miles from Hersonissos - Crete’s beloved party playground that’s most famous for its buzzy restaurants, bars, clubs, waterparks, trio of lovely beaches, and exciting water sports. The island’s historic capital Heraklion is a 30-minute drive away and worth visiting for its Venetian fortress, Palace of Knossos, Archaeological Museum, and Saint Minas Cathedral. Elsewhere on the island, highlights include venturing to the slopes of Mount Ida to see the Ideon Cave where Zeus was supposedly born and raised, taking a boat trip to the haunting island of Spinalonga, and hiking the 16-kilometre-long Samaria Gorge.
