Uncover the three wonders of South America: Machu Picchu, Iguazú Falls and Rio's Christ the Redeemer - includes breakfast, choice of hotels & more

Day 1: UK - Lima, Peru

Head to your chosen airport ready for an overnight flight to Lima, the enchanting capital of Peru.

Day 2: Lima

After breakfast, a fascinating city tour welcomes you to Lima. You'll begin in the modern districts of Miraflores and San Isidro before journeying into the Historic Centre. Here, you will visit the impressive Convent of Santo Domingo and stroll to the Plaza de Armas to admire the exquisite colonial architecture surrounding the square, concluding with a stop at the Parque del Amor - ideal for beautiful photos of the Peruvian coastline.

For an extra dose of culture, consider adding an optional visit to the Larco Museum to admire it's collection of pre-Columbian art, or opt to enjoy dinner with views of a pre-Inca pyramid at the famous Huaca Pucllana. Alternatively, upgrade your trip with an optional three-pack of excursions: a full day in the Sacred Valley, a dinner and unforgettable show, plus Larco Museum entry.

Day 3: Lima - Cuzco - Sacred Valley

After another delightful breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to the former capital of the Inca Empire, Cuzco. Upon arrival, you'll travel towards the Sacred Valley, making a stop at Museo Sulca to peruse the museum’s beautiful handmade textiles. Here, watch local communities perfect their craft and soak up stunning views. Spend the remainder of the day exploring the region's immaculate scenery before getting a good night’s sleep.

Day 4: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu

Today brings one of your trip's main highlights: a visit to Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll transfer to Ollantaytambo, from where you’ll board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village), enjoying winding green mountain scenery as you go. A bus will then take you up to the ancient Inca city for a Citadel visit of around 2.5 hours, which is scheduled either in the morning or the afternoon based on availability. Enjoy views of this Peruvian treasure, which was built in the 15th century at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, and marvel at its preservation. Return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you'll have free time to explore the town before travelling back by train to Ollantaytambo for a transfer to your hotel.

Please note, your reservation includes a ticket on a standard train (Expedition or Voyager). To enjoy panoramic views, you can upgrade to a higher category (360º or Vistadome) in the booking process.

Day 5: Sacred Valley - Cuzco

Set off on a scenic journey to Cuzco today, with the option of an ‘Essence of the Sacred Valley’ excursion before saying farewell. The excursion will include a visit to the church of Chinchero and the colourful textiles of the PARWA Centre, as well as lunch, a stop at Ollantaytambo’s Incan ruins, and a trip to the Racchi panoramic viewpoint for sweeping vistas across the valley.

Day 6: Cuzco

A vibrant city bursting with history, museums and cosmopolitan offerings, Cuzco will be yours for the taking. Start with a half-day city tour taking you past iconic spots, from Plaza de Armas and the cathedral to the site of the Koricancha Temple, a former Incan palace that’s now home to a spectacular Dominican convent. Your final stop will be the lively San Blas neighbourhood, known for its artistic atmosphere, shops and artisan workshops.

An optional dinner show is the perfect occasion to enjoy a wonderful meal in the heart of Cuzco, complete with a lively and colourful performance featuring live music and traditional dances.

Day 7: Cuzco - Lima

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the airport for your scheduled flight to Lima. After arrival, you will be taken to your hotel for a relaxing overnight stay in the city.

Day 8: Lima - Buenos Aires, Argentina

At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for your flight to the dazzling Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. You’ll be whisked away to your hotel where the remainder of the day is yours to do with as you please. Take in the culture and explore this sprawling city as you see fit.

Day 9-10: Buenos Aires

After breakfast, enjoy a tour of Buenos Aires, a city famous for its passionate tango scene, delicious grilled meats, and rich history. Your tour will visit the most emblematic sites, including the historic Plaza de Mayo, the picturesque district of La Boca, and the Obelisk, the iconic symbol of the capital. You will also pass the Casa Rosada, famously featured when Madonna performed "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" in 1996. Your whistlestop tour ends in the glamorous neighbourhood of Palermo, the perfect place to spend the evening at your leisure sampling the city’s cosmopolitan delights. Should you wish, a range of optional excursions also await.

The following day is yours to spend as you wish - be sure to sample local culinary specialties like empanadas, asado and dulce de leche, or take part in an optional dinner tasting experience. An optional half-day excursion to the Tigre Delta can also be arranged.

Day 11: Buenos Aires - Iguazú

After breakfast, say goodbye to Buenos Aires as you transfer to the airport for your flight to Iguazú. Once you’ve settled into your hotel, you’ll have the rest of the day to spend at leisure, preparing for tomorrow’s adventures.

Day 12-13: Iguazú

Leave city life behind for a few days and reconnect with nature at the awe-inspiring Iguazú Falls. Home to over 230 cascading waterfalls, Iguazú is one of the mightiest waterfalls in the world, much taller than Niagara Falls and twice as wide. In the next two days, you’ll visit both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides of the waterfall, taking a train to the ‘Devil’s Throat’ lookout area to watch as water rushes down a jaw-dropping 80-metre drop. Looking to up the thrill factor? Substitute this excursion for the optional Iguazú Great Adventure, an enchanting tour where you’ll be hiking through the Yacaratiá jungle, sailing into the Lower Iguazú River, and coming face-to-face with the San Martín waterfall, the largest waterfall system in the world.

Please note that the Great Adventure excursion is not suitable for travellers with heart problems or physical disabilities.

Day 14: Iguazú - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

After breakfast, return to the airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro, the first stop on the Brazilian leg of your trip. Upon arrival, you’ll have the rest of the day to spend as you wish - why not start with a chilled-out stroll along Rio’s world-famous beaches, Copacabana and Ipanema?

Day 15-16: Rio de Janeiro

This morning, you’ll set off for a tour of Corcovado and a visit to Christ the Redeemer, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Take bucket-list snaps of this iconic statue, whose magnificent lookout point also affords breathtaking views of the city and beach beyond. On your way back to the city, you’ll pass by the Sambódromo, the Selaron Steps and exterior of the famous Maracana Stadium. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish. You could even add a delicious optional seafood dinner to round off the day.

On day 16, see the sights at your own pace or embark on an optional 30-minute helicopter flight over Rio de Janeiro, accompanied by a visit to Tijuca National Park’s caves and trails. You could also fill your time with an optional visit to the national park’s Vista Chinesa view point before enjoying lunch, or settling in for a traditional dinner with lively music at Rio Scenarium, an iconic Brazilian restaurant in the heart of Rio de Janeiro.

Please note, if the optional visit to Tijuca National Park is booked for a Saturday or Sunday, the Vista Chinesa stop will be replaced by a visit to Parque Lage, as Vista Chinesa is closed on weekends.

Day 17: Rio de Janeiro - UK

After a whirlwind tour of South America’s three wonders and beyond, you’ll head to the airport for your flight home, with memories under your belt that truly last a lifetime.
