Prague
Located on the left bank of the Vltava River, the Smíchov district offers an authentic side of the city while remaining exceptionally well-connected to the historic centre. A short walk leads you to the iconic Dancing House, a masterpiece of modern architecture, or you can cross the river to explore the ancient fortress of Vyšehrad, which offers some of the best panoramic views over the city’s spires. For those who enjoy a bit of retail therapy, the Nový Smíchov shopping centre is just moments away, alongside a variety of cinemas and local boutiques.
Art lovers should not miss the nearby Kampa Museum, housed in a former mill, which showcases impressive modern Central European works. For a quintessentially local experience, take a quick tram ride to the Charles Bridge to watch the sunset over the water, or head into the Old Town Square to witness the hourly chime of the medieval Astronomical Clock. If you fancy a break from the cobblestones, the Petřín Lookout Tower - often called the city’s own Eiffel Tower - is easily reachable and surrounded by lush parkland perfect for a leisurely stroll.
