Days 1-3: UK – Montreux

After landing in Geneva, you’ll hop in your train towards Montreux. The journey is about an hour, and runs along the edge of the expansive Lac Léman, in fact Western Europe’s largest lake. Check into your hotel and spend any remainder of the day and the full following day at leisure amongst the many charms of Montreux.

Stroll along the elegant, flower-lined waterfront promenade to snap a photo with the iconic Freddie Mercury statue before exploring the medieval stone walls of the legendary Château de Chillon. Be sure to soak up the region's rich culinary heritage with a scenic detour through the steeply terraced, UNESCO-listed Lavaux vineyards to enjoy a glass of local wine against a backdrop of breathtaking alpine vistas.

On day three, you’ll board the scenic Golden Pass Express train to Interlaken. A pioneer's dream over a century in the making, this modern train makes for a seamless journey of just over three hours. From comfortable, heated seats and wide panoramic windows, take in the unfolding landscapes: travelling from the beautiful Vaud Riviera, passing through the Pays-d'Enhaut and Gstaad, and arriving right amongst the majestic peaks of the Bernese Alps.

Days 4-5: Interlaken – Lucerne

Upon alighting in Interlaken, settle into your hotel and look forward to a couple of days exploring the spectacular adventure capital of Switzerland. Beautifully situated between the sparkling, emerald waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, this vibrant town serves as the perfect gateway to the towering peaks of the Bernese Alps. During your leisurely stay, you can stroll the charming town center or choose to elevate your experience with an optional Jungfraujoch Top of Europe roundtrip train ride from Interlaken, taking you on an unforgettable journey to the highest railway station in Europe for breathtaking, panoramic glacier views.

On day five, you’ll board the scenic Interlaken Express scenic train for an unforgettable two-hour ride from Interlaken to Lucernes and into the heart of Switzerland. Relax behind large panoramic windows as you take in some of the most spectacular views the Swiss Alps have to offer, swooshing past snow-capped mountains, romantic waterfalls, and the shores of no fewer than five crystal-clear lakes. After gliding over the magnificent Brünig mountain pass, you will arrive in Lucerne. Alight in the captivating medieval city, boasting dazzling lake views, a charming old town, and its timbered, flower-laden Chapel Bridge. Foodies will delight in the cheese fondue and raclette spots here, before settling in for the night at the hotel.

With the seven-night itinerary, you will stay two nights in Lucerne.

Day 6: Zurich – UK

The next day, you’ll catch your final train from Lucerne to Zurich. Those on the five-night trip will sadly wave goodbye to the charming Swiss scenes, as your UK-bound flight rolls around.

If you picked a longer itinerary, you’ll spend one night in Zurich. Turn between old cobblestone streets and sleek modernity, and be sure to pocket some fine Swiss chocolate to take home. The next day, enjoy any remaining sightseeing time, before heading to the airport to catch your flight.
