The village of Spilia is a historic religious and architectural centre, where you can wander past 14th-century churches or visit the Cave of Saint John the Hermit, just a short walk from your base. For a glimpse into the island’s ancient roots, head to nearby Vouves to stand before a monumental olive tree estimated to be over 3,000 years old.
The coast is never far away; the beach of Kolimbari is just a short drive from the village. For a bucket-list experience, set off on a day trip towards the mesmerising pink sands of Elafonissi or the turquoise waters of Balos Lagoon, both of which are within easy reach of the hotel.
