• Excursion to the fortress of Galle • When visiting the fortress of Galle, you will see an impressive example of the island's varied history. After hundreds of years of trading here, the Portuguese laid the foundation stone for the building in the 16th century, which in turn was conquered by the Dutch in 1640. They built the fortress architecture that has been preserved to this day, but in 1796 it was taken over by British colonialists. The area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and you can discover sights including churches, a harbour, the old lighthouse, the English gate and some Dutch buildings. • Boat safari on the Mahamodara River • Immerse yourself in the fascinating flora and fauna of Sri Lanka. You will travel 12 km along the Mahamodara River to the Wakwella Bridge - a route where you can spot numerous water birds such as the purple egret and great egret. Parakeets, pearl-necked pigeons and brightly coloured bearded birds can also be seen, and you might also spot some birds of prey, black-tailed monitor lizards and white-bearded langurs. On your foray through nature you'll move through a wonderful, exotic landscape with mangroves and water lilies, which will leave you dreaming of them long after you return. • Jetwing Lighthouse coastal hike • On a guided walk you'll get to know part of Sri Lanka's 1,700 km long coastline. Exciting discoveries await you beyond the idyllic palm-tree beaches: your tour begins on the veranda of the hotel, and just a few metres away, you can experience the biological diversity that plays in front of and within the Indian Ocean. Off the coast, reefs and rocky stretches are home to numerous creatures - such as hermit crabs, sea urchins, all kinds of mussels and starfish. Payment
If you book this deal before 35 days of your departure, you can choose to pay in parts. The deposit will be 50% of the deal’s price plus the booking fee and travel and/or cancellation insurance (when applicable).
