An action-packed, all-inclusive cruise from Buenos Aires taking in Uruguay’s capital, iconic Rio and its famed carnival, includes all travel and more.

  • Days 1 - 4: Buenos Aires, Argentina

Touch down in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s vibrant capital. After checking into your five-star pad, you can start to explore this mesmerising metropolis that seamlessly blends colonial architecture with Latino flair. There’s so much to keep you occupied here, from lively Recoleta, whose arty cemetery is filled with famous mausoleums, to the colourful clapboard houses of Camino in La Boca. Don’t miss out on sampling the local delights - dulce de leche and empanadas are not to be missed - and spending an afternoon in Plaza Dorrego to watch the locals tangoing the day away. After three nights at Regal Pacific Hotel, you’ll transfer to the port to embark on the main adventure aboard your sparkling cruiseship, the Azamara Pursuit.

Days 5 & 6: Montevideo, Uruguay

Your first stop is Uruguay's eclectic capital, Montevideo. It’s the country’s largest city, and famous for its historic downtown district, its music, theatre, and arts scenes, as well as its sun-kissed beaches. Art Deco and Neoclassical buildings rub shoulders while skyscrapers rise high into the sky next to exclusive beach resorts. You’ve got two days to explore Montevideo: be sure to visit Mercado del Puerto, the city’s old port market building, as well as soak up the atmosphere around Independencia and Matriz Plaza, before slipping on your dancing shoes and heading to the nearest tango bar.

Days 7 & 8: At sea

Find your sea legs and spend two days taking full advantage of Azamara Pursuit’s facilities.

Day 9: Santos, São Paulo, Brazil

Bem vindo ao Brasil! You’ll dock in Santos, a port city around two hours away from São Paulo. An innovative urban hub with impressive architecture and a world-renowned nightlife, be sure to make the most of every moment you have here: admire the street murals at Beco do Batman, stroll around the Parque do Ibirapuera and visit its museums, then take in the city from new heights at Sesc Paulista or the Sky Bar at Unique Hotel.

Day 10: Ilhabela, Brazil

Portuguese for ‘beautiful island’, Ilhabela is one of the most sought-after beach escapes for Brazilian tourists. Peppered as it is with picturesque beaches, gushing waterfalls, and unspoiled Atlantic forest, it’s your chance to reconnect with nature and enjoy life at a slower pace. Try to squeeze in some time on a boat, spotting the abundant marine life around the archipelago.

Day 11: Paraty, Brazil

An often overlooked gem, Paraty charms with its exquisitely preserved colonial centre and jungle-steeped backdrop. Brightly coloured doors and cobblestone streets make you feel a word away from the buzz of São Paulo, and you can discover a clutch of friendly restaurants serving epic Brazilian specialities. Hire a kayak and row over to the Jabaquara mangroves, or sample some of Brazil’s native spirit, cachaça, at one of the local distilleries. Stumble back to your ship around 6pm.

Day 12: Buzios, Brazil

Carnival is fast approaching, but first you must acquaint yourself with the cluster of idyllic beaches that make Buzios a firm favourite among Brazilians. With 23 beaches sprinkled along its coast, it’s easy to imagine the kind of laid-back charm that embodies Buzios. Praia da Tartaruga and João Fernandes beach are two firm favourites, and from there you can wander down to Restaurant La Gare, where some of the best moqueca on the islet can be found. After sunset, the town is abuzz with late-night diners and friendly locals strolling along the waterfront on their way to bars and clubs.

Days 13 - 15: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

A trio of colourful days await as you dock in Rio, a captivating place with samba-fuelled nightlife, golden beaches, and a real lust for life. Take to the streets and join in with the mega-celebration that is Rio Carnival, an iconic event that’s earned itself the ‘biggest festival in the world’ title. Mega parades, dizzying beats, and plenty of colourful costumes await here, but there’s plenty more to see besides. Make the pilgrimage up to Cristo Redentor and marvel at one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World; cable car up to Sugarloaf Mountain for more spectacular city views; and watch the sunset from Ipanema beach, coconut - or caipirinha - in hand.

Days 16 & 17: At sea

As you begin your return journey to Buenos Aires, make the most of two more days aboard Azamara Pursuit, surrounded as you are by the endless blue of the sea and sky.

Day 18: Punta Del Este, Uruguay

Your final stop on this epic cruise is Punta del Este, a resort city known for its strong surf, beautiful beaches and 19th-century lighthouse. It’s something of a playground for the rich, hosting race events, glamorous parties, and a harbour studded with multi-million pound yachts. La Barra and José Ignacio are home to the fashion boutiques, while artisanal markets pop up around Gorlero Street. The culinary offerings here are sublime (naturally), but it’s the desserts that really steal the show: dulce de leche volcano is an absolute must, and makes for a final explosively sweet treat before you depart.

Day 19: Buenos Aires, Argentina

You’ll dock around 6am, and have a few hours in this magical city once again before your flight back to the UK.
