Day 1: UK/Ireland - San José

Catch your flight from the UK to the capital of Costa Rica and transfer to your hotel. If time allows, get out and explore the vibrant neighbuorhoods and colonial architecture of this charming, historic city. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 2: San José - Arenal

After a night in San José, you’ll move on to the La Fortuna area, where the dramatic Arenal Volcano is located - one of the most important and spectacular in the country. You’ll get to embark on a volcano hike along paths created by impressive lava flows, admiring the plant life which grows in such incredible diversity as you go. Afterwards, opt to visit the Tabacón Hot Springs to soothe your weary legs. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 3: Arenal

Today you’ll have some time to explore Arenal by yourself - there’s plenty to discover in the National Park, however if you’re feeling adventurous, opt for an excursion to La Fortuna Waterfall, or alternatively, explore the hanging-bridges of Arenal's cloud forest. Whatever you choose to do, the beauty of the natural surroundings is sure to make for a memorable day. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 4: Arenal

You’ll have another free day to enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful natural environment at your own pace. Why not opt to go horseback riding in the wilderness, enjoying the backdrop of a rainforest as you ride, from the impressive view of the Arenal Volcano to Lake Arenal vistas. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 5 : Arenal - Puerto Viejo

Enjoy a laid-back morning at your leisure to relax or explore, all before journeying along the Atlantic Coast to Puerto Viejo in the province of Limon. You’ll have the rest of the day at your own pace to settle into this sunny town’s chilled-out way of life. (Meals: breakfast, lunch)

Day 6: Puerto Viejo - Cahuita National Park - Puerto Viejo

This morning, venture into Cahuita National Park for a nature hike that will have you laying eyes on monkeys, anteaters, racoons and more. Explore with an expert guide and enjoy a traditional local snack before returning to your hotel. (Meals: breakfast, lunch)

Day 7: Puerto Viejo - Bocas del Toro

Set off for the idyllic Panama paradise of Bocas del Toro today, taking the boat from Almirante to Isla Colon and continuing by road to your hotel. This gorgeous island is home to beautiful star-fish lined beaches, amazing restaurants and bars, and unforgettable landscapes. Once settled at the hotel, enjoy the remainder of the day relaxing at your own pace. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 8: Bocas del Toro

Your day begins with adventure as you set off on a boat tour to observe the dolphin pods that inhabit the waters around Bahia Honda. Continue to Cayo Coral, where you'll have the chance the snorkel in the warm waters and explore the colourful underwater world and 'coral gardens'. Then discover the gorgeous beaches of Cayo Zapatilla and stop at Sloth Island, where you can observe these notoriously lazy animals in their natural habitat. Head back to the hotel for a relaxed evening. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 9: Bocas del Toro

Enjoy a day at your leisure in Bocas del Toro, whether you choose to kick-back on the beach and enjoy the tropical climate at your own pace, or tuck into the Caribbean cuisine that this region is famed for. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 10: Bocas del Toro - Puerto Viejo

It's time to return to Costa Rica this morning. Get settled at your hotel in Puerto Viejo and spend the remainder of the evening at your leisure, taking in the beautiful sea views. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 11: Puerto Viejo - San José

This morning, transfer back to the capital to spend your last night in San José. You’ve the option to embark on a city tour by bus, which will include a traditional dinner and folklore show. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 12: San José - UK/Ireland

It's time to bid farewell to beautiful Central America. Transfer to the airport to board your flight back to the UK/Ireland.
