Cooking class (approximately 90 minutes)
Visit Mama's Taper restaurant and be introduced to the subtleties of Greek cuisine. First, you can look forward to delicacies such as feta cheese, Chios Masticha liqueur and (depending on the season) watermelon or grapes. Then on your table, you'll find all the necessary ingredients for the given recipes - think traditional cake, stuffed vine leaves called dolmades and traditional Greek salad. You'll be given step-by-step instructions and helpful tips from your cooking class leader, all before enjoying a specially prepared menu with an appetiser, main course, salad and dessert. Then each person will receive their cooked recipes, homemade cake and a master chef's wooden spoon as a souvenir.
Excursion to the Meteora monasteries (approximately four hours)
Near Thessaloniki lies a place that seems out of this world: Meteora. Here, bizarre rock formations tower up from the green hilly landscape. The crowning glory is the plethora of monasteries from the 14th century enthroned like castles in the air on the tops of steep cliffs - an incredible sight. No wonder Meteora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Those who visit the monasteries get an insight into the difficulties of life that were once here; monasteries could only be reached via rope ladders and were difficult to maintain due to their remoteness. During this excursion, an English-speaking guide will pick you up at the hotel entrance around 9am and take you to the Meteora monasteries. You'll have around four hours to visit two or three monasteries and the most beautiful places in the area. At the end of the tour, around 1pm, you'll be transferred back to your hotel.
Excluded
- €4 tourist tax per room, per night (to be paid on site)
- Optional cooking class
- Optional excursion to Meteora monasteries (without monastery entrance fee)
