Day 1: UK

Today you'll arrive at your chosen departure airport to commence your Malaysian adventure, with an overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Day 2: UK - Kuala Lumpur

Today you'll arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, where you'll meet a representative and take a 45-minute transfer to your hotel to check in. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure, shaking off the jet lag, before an overnight stay.

Days 3-4: Kuala Lumpur

After breakfast on day 3, spend the morning at leisure before a guided afternoon discovery tour of Kuala Lumpur. You'll meet your guide at the lobby at 2pm, to embark on a tour dotted with iconic sights: visit the Lake Garden, drive through the city to admire the National Mosque, Independence Square and Petronas Twin Towers that make up its distinctive skyline. Then you'll journey past old-fashioned street shops and modern skyscrapers, for a chance to take in the capital's very unique architectural make-up, filled with lush greenery. Once the tour has ended, return to your hotel and spend the evening at your leisure before an overnight stay.

Day 4 will be spent at leisure, so be sure to plan ahead and make time for more unmissable sights; enjoy sprawling panoramas from atop the Menara tower, perhaps, or indulge in some retail therapy at Suria KLCC mall. Of course, no trip to this glimmering city would be complete without a trip to a local kopitiam, to feast on a delicious array of flavours - you can't go wrong with nasi lemak or roti canai, topped off with a steaming cup of teh tarik. Return to your hotel in the evening, for a final night in Kuala Lumpur.

Day 5: Kuala Lumpur - Sandakan, Borneo

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Kuala Lumpur International Airport for your onward flight to Sandakan, a coastal Borneo city in the Malaysian state of Sabah. You'll arrive at Sandakan Airport in the afternoon, to meet a representative and transfer to your resort. Enjoy lunch on site, before having the afternoon to rest and enjoy at your leisure. Overnight in Sandakan.

Day 6: Sandakan (Sepilok)

After breakfast, meet your guide at the lobby and embark on a full-day discovery adventure steeped in nature. You'll first visit the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, known worldwide for its efforts of rescuing orangutans from capativity or displacement by logging activities. You'll then tour the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, the only one of its kind in the entire world, where you'll discover its mission to rehabilitate, protect and increase awareness of the Malayan sun bear.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before embarking on a tour of the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary and the Rainforest Discovery Centre; at the latter, you will get to explore nature trails throughout the reserve, marvel at a wide array of birds, and follow a 147-metre-long walkway through the forest canopy - stop for a moment to soak up stunning views of the huge trees that make up much of the rainforest. Before nightfall, you'll return to your resort for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Sandakan - Sukau, Kinabatangan

After breakfast, check out of your resort and transfer to the jetty in Sandakan. From there, you'll travel by road to Sukau, arriving at your resort in time for lunch. At 4.30pm, embark on a cruise up the Kinabatangan River to the Menanggul River in search proboscis monkeys, birds, reptiles and other wildlife. Return to your resort for an overnight stay.

Day 8: Sukau, Kinabatangan

Today, at approximately 6.30am, take an early-morning boat trip to birdwatch and marvel at more wildlife at the nearby Ox Bow Lake. Return to your resort for breakfast, followed by free time at leisure to unwind. You'll take another river cruise at 4.30pm, before returning to your resort for an overnight stay.

Day 9: Kinabatangan - Tabin Wildlife Reserve, Lahad Datu

After breakfast, check out from your resort and take a two-hour land transfer to Tabin Wildlife Office in Lahad Datu (estimated arrival time at 11.30am). From there, your land transfer into Tabin will depart at 12pm, giving you a chance to stretch your legs. Upon arrival at your next resort, check in and take a walk to explore the local Lipad River area, home to a surprising variety of birds, insects, and small mammals. Discover a rich variety of jungle herbs, some endemic, used for generations by locals for the treatment of various ailments.

In the afternoon, visit the active Lipad mud volcano which provides a mineral salt lick for wildlife: after a 20-minute trek through the rainforest, you'll arrive at the volcano's elevated bare area, which is frequented by wildlife and birds. Try to identify a multitude of animal footprints here, and if you're feeling adventurous, why not experience the effects of the volcanic mud on your complexion? Trek back to the resort along the elephant trail. After dinner, enjoy a presentation of the Tabin Wildlife Reserve's natural wonders, followed by a night safari to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds. Remember to look up at the clear dark sky, to identify the constellations above you and make a wish or two.

Day 10: Tabin Wildlife Reserve

Today, join an early morning bird walk to discover some of more than 300 species that call the reserve home. After breakfast, you'll learn about local initiatives from the Orang Utan Release Centre before trekking through the lush rainforest en route for Lipad Waterfall, where you can choose to enjoy a swim stop. Back at your resort in the afternoon, try out the Tabin Rainforest Foot Soak made with a natural blend of herbs, and come evening, take a dusk drive to look out for more nocturnal wildlife. After dinner, finish your day with a leisurely night walk along a nearby trail, in search of sleeping birds, frogs and more, and return to your resort for an overnight stay.

Day 11: Tabin Wildlife Reserve - Kota Kinabalu

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for your onward flight to Kota Kinabalu. Arrive at Kota Kinabalu International Airport, where you'll meet a representative and transfer to your final resort to check in. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, recharging your batteries and making the most of your resort's luxurious facilities, before an overnight stay.

Days 12-14: Kota Kinabalu

After breakfast on day 12, spend the morning at your leisure before an afternoon discovery tour of Kota Kinabalu. You'll meet your tour guide at the lobby at 2pm, and visit the Sabah State Museum & Heritage Village for a closer look into Sabah's ethnic diversity and history. Take a city drive past major landmarks, including the City Mosque, Tanjung Aru Beach and the area's highest building, the Tun Mustapha Tower. Enjoy some time at leisure, mingling with the locals at a handicraft market, before stopping by a typical water village to capture the essence of life in Kota Kinabalu. After your tour, return to the resort for an evening at leisure and an overnight stay.

On day 13, enjoy breakfast and meet your guide at the lobby by 9am, for a back-to-nature, half-day Mari Mari Cultural Village tour. Experience local living traditions through interactive activities and performances, and learn about different communities and tribes that have inhabited the island of Borneo. You'll also learn about local alcohol production processes (enjoying samples as you go), test your blowpipe skills, and sit down for a traditional dance performance and lunch. After the tour has come to an end, you'll transfer back to your resort and spend the rest of the day at leisure, before an overnight stay.

Day 14 will also be spent at leisure, fully indulging in your resort's superb amenities before a final overnight stay - why not book yourself in for some luscious spa time?

Day 15: Kota Kinabalu - UK (via Kuala Lumpur)

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Kota Kinabalu International Airport, where you'll board your flight back to the UK via Kuala Lumpur.

Flights are included from London Heathrow airport to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, returning from Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.

A 5kg hand luggage and 20kg hold luggage allowance per person is included, as well private car transfers.

Please note that baggage weight and size restrictions may vary between airlines, please check airline terms and conditions.

From London Heathrow with Malaysia Airlines:

Outbound from London to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:

Please note that both your outbound and inbound flights are overnight, so please bear this in mind when planning the time you'll be away for. The date you select as your check-in date will be the day you'll fly out from the UK and you'll arrive in Malaysia the following day to commence your 13-night holiday. The check-out date will be the day that you'll board your inbound flight back to the UK. Since your inbound is also overnight, you'll be away for a total of 15 nights.
