A stunning seven-night 'seat-in-coach' tour of Jordan's highlights, with four- or five-star hotels, half board, all travel and optional excursions

Day 1: London - Aqaba, Jordan

After touching down in Aqaba, you’ll be picked up at the airport and whisked away to your hotel. Settle into your stylish digs and refuel after your journey - your epic Jordan adventure begins tomorrow. (Meals: dinner)

Day 2: Aqaba - Dead Sea - Amman

After breakfast, join the tour for a scenic drive to the first bucket-list stop on your itinerary - the Dead Sea. A magical and otherworldly sight, this legendary salt lake lies deep within the Jordan valley, and is both the lowest point on earth and the world’s richest source of natural salts. Admire glittering salt formations and the rugged mountain landscape all around you, and perhaps take a dip to float effortlessly in its salt-rich waters. Afterwards, you’ll transfer to your hotel in Amman for dinner and an overnight stay. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 3: Amman - Jerash - Ajloun - Amman

Today, your morning begins with a visit to the ancient Roman city of Jerash, where towering colonnades, soaring hilltop temples, vast amphitheatres and sprawling plazas will transport you to a bygone age. From there, you’ll continue northwards towards Ajloun, one of the Middle East’s most important historical and ecological sites. Marvel at the well-preserved Islamic architecture of the 12th-century Ajloun Castle, an imposing fortress-like structure that presides over the valley and was built to control Ajloun’s iron mines and counter the advances of Crusaders. Come evening, you’ll head back to your hotel in the capital for some well-deserved R&R. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 4: Amman - Madaba - Nebo - Shobak - Petra

Immerse yourself in Byzantine splendour with a trip to Madaba this morning, where you’ll step inside the famous Greek Orthodox Basilica of St George to see a magnificent sixth-century mosaic map of the Holy Land. Next, it's up to Mount Nebo, the elevated ridge from which Moses glimpsed the Promised Land in the Old Testament. From there, you’re in for a scenic drive south to Shobak Castle, a relic of former Crusader glory jutting out of an otherwise isolated and forbidding landscape. Known to the Crusaders as Mont Real or Mons Regalis, this eerie fortress was built in 1115 by King Baldwin I of Jerusalem to guard the road from Damascus to Egypt, and is the first of many such strongholds spread across the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. After that, you’ll continue on to your next overnight stop - the ethereal city of Petra. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 5: Petra

It doesn’t get much more bucket-list than Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Carved out of unique red sandstone, the former Nabatean capital and ancient international trading route is among the world’s most famous archaeological sites, known for its spectacular architectural structures blending Eastern and Hellenistic influences. Enter through a kilometre-long gorge flanked by imposing 80-metre cliffs, and drift between enchanting rock-cut tombs, temples, Roman-style theatres, colonnades and more. At the end of the day, return to your hotel to rest and recuperate, or perhaps opt for a spellbinding tour of Petra by night. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 6: Petra - Wadi Rum - Aqaba

Described by British archaeologist T. E. Lawrence as ‘vast, echoing, and god-like,’ no trip to Jordan is complete without a visit to the Wadi Rum. After breakfast, you’ll explore this enchanting part of the world on a thrilling two-hour Jeep ride through the Jordanian desert, known to locals as the ‘Valley of the Moon.’ After that, sit back and enjoy the panorama from your window as you transfer back to Aqaba. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 7: Aqaba

Your final day is yours to spend as you wish, and Aqaba’s many marvels are ripe for exploration. Immerse yourself in the city’s rich history with a trip to the 16th-century Mamluk Castle and Aqaba Archaeological Museum, and wonder at the gleaming white dome, minaret and arches of the iconic Sharif Hussein bin Ali Mosque. Get a taste of the port city’s lively local scene with a stroll through the bustling Old Town, perhaps haggling for souvenirs at a traditional souk market or sampling flavourful local fare. Last but certainly not least, make the most of Aqaba’s prime seafront position with a chilled-out beach day, a diving session in the Red Sea’s world-famous coral reefs, or an optional boat tour for magical city and sea views. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 8: Aqaba - London

After breakfast, you’ll transfer to King Hussein International Airport for your return flight to London. (Meals: breakfast)
