Days 1-2: Hanoi, Vietnam
Today you touch down in Vietnam’s lively capital city of Hanoi to begin your epic 13-night adventure. You’ll be whisked off via private transfer straight to your hotel to get all settled in, and with two nights here at your disposal, there’s no need to hurry.
With over a thousand years of history under its belt, Hanoi is a box-ticking favourite with culture vultures, history buffs and thrill-seekers alike, boasting an eclectic mix of Chinese, Southeast Asian and French influences. Here, ancient temples and pagodas brush shoulders with cutting-edge architectural landmarks, while elegant Indochine architecture stands as a reminder of the country’s colonial past. Top-billed sights include the buzzing Old Quarter, Temple of Literature, the National Fine Arts Museum and Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, while the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre is one of the city’s quirky and best-loved attractions. How better to discover it than with an optional half-day guided tour of the city, and the rest of the time to spend at your leisure?
Day 3: Ha Long Bay
Today, the emerald waters and magical islets of Ha Long Bay await, as you take a shared transfer to embark on a spellbinding one-night cruise. Tick off another UNESCO World Heritage Site as you glide past the limestone mountains rising majestically out of the water, admiring their glittering white stone covered in lush tropical vegetation. Later on, perhaps take a dip as the ship drops anchor in a crystal-clear lagoon, paddle away in a kayak or simply soak up the sun from the deck. Make the most of your full-board while cruising with scrumptious seafood and local eats, and sample a range of exciting activities both onboard and on the water. And as the sun sets over this once-in-a-lifetime landscape, raise a glass to today’s adventures before retreating to your private cabin.
Day 4: Back to Hanoi
Find your land legs again today as you round off your Ha Long Bay cruise and return to Hanoi, making time to catch up on any sights you missed out on last time you were here. Whether or not you feel like exploring, be sure to rest up at your hotel - a change of scene awaits you on the morrow.
Days 5-8: Hoi An
After flying from Hanoi to Da Nang, it’s off to Hoi An for the next leg of your trip.
Home to traditional tea houses, lively night markets, quaint canals and - you guessed it - another UNESCO-listed site, a stay in Hoi An feels like stepping back in time. The crown jewel of this charming former port is the well-preserved Ancient Town, where grand colonial houses, timber-framed shop fronts and colourful lanterns reign supreme - it’s one of Vietnam’s most photographed spots, so be sure to whip out that camera while you’re here. A stroll through this part of town is an experience in itself, with highlights including the Japanese Bridge and ornate Assembly Halls. The city boasts a notorious street food scene, so simply let loose at the Central Market or the Hoi An Night Market to get your fix - your time in Hoi An is yours to spend as you wish.
Days 9-10: Ho Chi Minh City
On day nine, you’ll board a flight from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City, for the last stop on the Vietnamese leg of your journey.
Formerly known as Saigon, this vast metropolis is the most populated in Vietnam, and wears its action-packed past with pride. The city’s diverse skyline comprises everything from colourful colonial buildings (don’t miss the iconic Central Post Office and Saigon Opera House) to Vietnam’s tallest skyscraper and centuries-old temples - like the Giac Lam Pagoda, believed to be the city’s oldest. As far as street food goes, the city has plenty to rival the previous stops on your trip, while the fashionable Dong Khoi neighbourhood in Old Saigon is your go-to for timeless elegance and high-end retailers. Culture and history fans shouldn’t miss the Fine Arts Museum, Sino-French Museum and the moving War Remnants Museum - don’t know where to start? An optional half-day guided city tour will get you clued-up in no time, and will take you by several top-billed sights.
Days 11-13: Siem Reap, Cambodia
On day 11, hop on a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap, as you cross into Cambodia for the final stop on your whirlwind adventure. Spend some time in Siem Reap’s bustling city centre, perhaps stopping by the famous Old Market, shopping for local crafts on the King’s Road, or seeing the monks perform ancient Buddhist rituals at the Wat Preah Prom Rath City Temple. Stick around into the evening to see the city light up as the sun sets, and stroll through the colourful Night Markets to haggle away to your heart’s content. And for all your foodie needs, you can’t go wrong with a trip to Siem Reap’s vibrant Pub Street, a kaleidoscope of restaurants, bars, street food stalls and more.
While you're here, treat yourself to an optional full-day tour of Siem Reap and the Angkor Temples. A symbol of the lost splendour of the Khmer Empire, this vast 400-square-kilometre complex is one of Southeast Asia’s most important archaeological sites, and boasts both Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Heritage status. Marvel at the soaring stone-carved structures as you stroll through the ancient town of Angkor Thom, before taking that bucket-list picture at the world-famous Angkor Wat temple.
Day 14: Back home
After 13 nights discovering bustling cities, dreamy landscapes and dazzling temples, it’s time to pack your bags ahead of your private transfer to the airport in Siem Reap to catch your flight home.
