Quintessential Cotswolds: For such a beautiful building, Hatton Court Hotel has a rather controversial history. Rumour has it (and we like a good rumour) that it was originally built in the 1920s as a home for the mistress of a wealthy local businessman. Today, the building is a charming boutique hotel and a reformed character - the exterior is the personification of the English chocolate-box country house, covered in ivy and standing high on a hill overlooking miles of stunning Cotswolds countryside.
