Discover the wonders of Jordan on a sensational tour packed with incredible excursions - includes all travel, half board, a Wadi Rum safari and more

Day 1: UK - Amman, Jordan

After touching down in Jordan, you'll transfer to your hotel and have the rest of the day at your leisure to settle in or get a kickstart on exploring.

Day 2: Amman - Jerash - Ajloun

Today begins with a brief city tour of Amman, discovering both old and new parts of the city on a panoramic bus ride. Next you’ll journey on to the ancient Greco-Roman city of Jerash, sometimes known as the “Pompeii of the East”. Admire millennia-old temples and theatres, wander the colonnaded plaza and marvel at the ancient Hippodrome. Afterwards, you'll continue on to northern Jordan to see one of the most impressive castles in the Middle East - Ajloun. Built in 1184 AD to scupper the Crusaders, the astonishing hilltop fortress is a fine example of Islamic architecture from where you can soak up fantastic views of the Dead Sea.

Day 3: Desert Castles - Dead Sea

Today you’re heading east, taking a dive into Jordan’s history as you explore the desert castles of Azraq, Kharanah and Amra. Built during the early Islamic era, these historic fortresses served as retreats for the caliphs of the time. After that, it’s on to the Dead Sea - the lowest point on Earth at 400 metres below sea level. You’ll have time to enjoy the mesmerising view, float weightlessly in the salty waters and slather yourself in the therapeutic mud before returning to Amman.

Day 4: Madaba - Mount Nebo - Shobak

This morning you’ll head to the city of Madaba, home to the oldest mosaic map in the world. This incredible 6th-century map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land was discovered and preserved on the floor of the Greek Orthodox St. George's Church; take some time to admire the intricate Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. Your next stop is a few kilometres out of the city: Mount Nebo, named in the Bible as the place where the Promised Land was shown to Moses. Enjoy views across the Jordan Valley before heading on to Shobak Castle, built by the Crusader king Baldwin I in 1115 and still looking mighty atop its hill. You'll finally drive around half an hour to Petra, ready to discover its ancient wonders in the morning. If you can’t wait that long, you have the option of an incredible night-time excursion, offering the chance to see the legendary sights of Petra by candlelight and the glow of the moon.

Day 5: Petra

You'll be awed into silence by the majestic Nabatean city of Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to the famous treasury, this vast sandstone city holds hundreds of tombs elaborately cut into the rock, a Roman-style theatre carved out of the pinkish bedrock, temples, sacrificial altars and colonnaded streets; marvel at them all as you learn about life here in ancient times.

Day 6: Little Petra - Wadi Rum

Today you’re heading to lesser-known Little Petra, another Nabatean settlement carved into the walls of a sandstone canyon. Wander around the tombs, water tanks and riverbeds, before venturing into the magical desert of Wadi Rum. Once described by T.E. Lawrence as "vast, echoing and god-like", this unique landscape is named by locals as the Valley of the Moon. You'll zoom over this unforgettable lunar landscape in a 4x4 before dining Bedouin-style beneath the stars and staying in an atmospheric tent at a traditional camp. You also have the option of a magical stargazing experience - head to an area free from light pollution and admire the constellations with the help of telescopes (weather dependent).

Day 7: Wadi Rum - Amman

After breakfast in camp, you’ll return to Amman to spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Jordan’s jaw-dropping capital is a hubbub of culinary wonder and ancient sights, with plenty to admire. You can enjoy an optional city tour to really get a feel for the place, seeing some of the city's most emblematic sights - including Amman Citadel, the Temple of Hercules, the Byzantine Church and the Umayyad Palace. You’ll explore the Roman amphitheatre and the old markets too, before ending the tour with an authentic Jordanian dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 8: Amman - UK

Today your incredible adventure comes to an end; you’ll bid goodbye to Jordan and transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
