- total price from £ 4,298.00 ]
- price based on: 2 adults
A spellbinding Peruvian adventure with the chance to hike Machu Picchu via the Inca Trail, with breakfast, shared transfers, and a range of excursions
Day 1-2: UK - Lima
Arrive at the airport for your flight to Lima and get ready for a magical Peruvian adventure. After touching down in the country’s incredible capital, hop in your transfer and head into the city’s dynamic heart. Depending on what time you arrive, choose to try the refreshing local drink of Inka Kola or dig into tasty Peruvian cuisine at your leisure.
Day 3: Lima
Revitalise yourself with breakfast and begin the day with an invigorating two-hour bike tour of the city! Get a feel for the region’s energy as you cross from Miraflores to Barranco along the seaside boardwalk. Along the way, discover scenic parks, interesting shops, and unique street art. An artisanal gelato awaits you at the end.
If you’re still interested in discovering more of Lima's cultural heritage, join an optional historic tour and visit Larco Museum. Get to know both new and old Lima, exploring the gleaming districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, followed by the historic UNESCO-recognized centre. Pass by emblematic buildings such as the Lima Cathedral and Government and Archbishop's Palace before entering one of the most iconic ecclesiastical spaces - the UNESCO-listed Convent of Santo Domingo. Look out for the relics of three Peruvian saints and end the tour with a visit to the Rafael Larco Herrera Museum. This important museum is home to a collection of almost 45,000 pieces (including the Mochica), all made by pre-Hispanic cultures.
Day 4: Lima - Sacred Valley
Say goodbye to Lima before being whisked away to the airport for your internal flight to Cusco. You’ll then take a two-hour transfer to your comfortable hotel in the Sacred Valley. En route, you'll also get the chance to stop in Sulca, where you’ll visit the local textile museum and have the option to participate in an indigenous ceremony.
If you choose to participate in the optional Earth Ceremony, you’ll get to perform a sacred ritual with an Andean priest to thank Pachamama, Goddess Mother Earth. Respectfully ask her to impart good wishes in achieving your dreams!
Day 5: Sacred Valley
After another delicious breakfast, take your Peruvian experience to new heights with a thrilling zipline adventure above the Sacred Valley. Kitted out in all the necessary equipment, start with a beautiful 35-minute hike to the first descent cable. Experienced guides will then send you on your way as you soar between a total of seven cables and 2,800 metres worth of pure fun. Take in incredible views and remember to enjoy the ride.
If you’re primed for even more adventure, join the afternoon’s optional excursion to Maras and Moray, two of the Sacred Valley’s most important archaeological sites. As you embark on a guided tour, you’re sure to be struck by just how much Moray's natural complex resembles an amphitheatre. Elsewhere, a visit to the famous ancient salt mines of Maras is sure to stun with panoramic views of its mosaic-like terraces and ponds. Snap a picture and absorb the fact that you're standing where the finest salt in the world is obtained.
Day 6: Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes
Day 6 brings with it the most spectacular part of your Peruvian adventure: the Inca Trail. Your guide will pick you up after breakfast before you transfer to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Once there, board the iconic train to Machu Picchu and comtinue until the 104th kilometre. Alight and start your seven to eight hour hike through this unforgettable landscape. After winding your way through the spellbinding scenery, your first stop will be Wiñay Wayna, a cluster of Incan ruins set in a hillside overlooking the glittering Urubamba river. Gaze out at the hundred year old agricultural terraces and take some time to enjoy your included pre-packed lunch before continuing on to Inti Punku. Known as the entry portal to Machu Picchu, this would have been guarded by the Inca military - it’s also where you’ll get your first full view of the citadel. Take in what you’ve just accomplished over a distance of 12 kilometres before boarding a bus to Aguas Calientes for your overnight stay.
Day 7: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Wake up feeling rested and ready to enjoy a full day spent experiencing one of the wonders of the modern world: Machu Picchu. Meet your guide and hop on the bus to the citadel, where you’ll learn more about this extraordinary site. Built in the 15th century by the Sapa Inca Pachacuti, the citadel is testament to Inca architectural knowledge. Follow your guide through the main enclosures whilst listening to the history and importance of this Incan Empire wonder. Explore its internal terraces and temples with an impressive Huayna Picchu mountain backdrop.
Ready for a challenge? Join an optional scenic hike in Machu Picchu to catch panoramic views that will simply take your breath away. You’ll be informed of your exact route up either Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu and whilst you can expect a challenging climb and high altitude levels, the vistas are certainly worth it. Afterwards, return by bus to Agua Calientes to await the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by your transfer to Cusco.
Day 8-10: Cusco
Tuck into a leisurely breakfast and take advantage of a free day in Cusco. Explore the region or simply take a moment to rest and recover from the previous day’s intense activities. If you’re feeling up to it however, join the afternoon’s optional excursions.
If you decide to join the half-day walking tour, you can expect to visit the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral, whose interior holds a marvellous collection of colonial art and canvases. You’ll then stroll over to the Koricancha, a beautiful building with a baroque façade built over solid Inca walls, before ending your tour at the San Pedro Market. As the oldest in the city, the market is still a bustling hub for traders and local craftsmen. Situated just 15 minutes from downtown, an optional visit to Cusco Planetarium is also worth the trip. Learn about the important relationship between the Andean people and the cosmos, seeing the wonders of the universe up close thanks to special equipment. Weather permitting, you’ll also be able to observe stars and constellations through telescopes. You’ll then end the tour at the Plaza de Armas.
Begin day 9 with a hearty breakfast before embarking on an all-day adventure at Vinicunca, the iconic ‘Rainbow Mountain’. Depart early, first heading to Cusipata and then Phulwa Sipata, the starting point of the hike. As you ascend, marvel at the majestic Apu Ausangate, the highest snow-capped mountain in Cusco, and spot herds of llamas and alpacas grazing in the distance. After a rewarding one hour 30 minute hike, reach the summit of Vinicunca and stand at an impressive 5,020 metres above sea level. Be captivated by the vibrant hues of red, purple, green, yellow, and pink that adorn the mountain's slopes - a result of the unique minerals in the soil. Retrace your steps back to Phulwa Sipata, enjoying the panoramic views along the way and finally return to Cusipata for a traditional lunch.
Day 10 in the Sacred Valley is yours to do with as you please. However, for those seeking a breath of fresh air, choose to embark on an exciting optional excursion.
Enjoy Cusco's natural landscapes in a new way with an optional half-day stand up paddle tour! You’ll be whisked away to the calm waters of Chinchero’s Piuray Lagoon. Admire the sparkling expanse that once supplied ancient Cusco and after enjoying a welcome snack, take part in a brief stretching and instruction session. As you take in the surrounding views of Soray, Veronica and Salcantay, follow your guide out onto the water before losing yourself in a moment of peace. Alternatively, you could choose to see Cusco in a whole new light with an optional night-time city tour and Pisco Sour workshop. Pass by the Koricancha and the San Cristobal viewpoint, where you’ll get off the bus to enjoy the spectacular view of the illuminated city. Next, head towards the Plaza de Armas to visit one of the most popular bars in the city. You’ll learn how to prepare one of Peru's signature cocktails: the Pisco Sour.

After breakfast, bid farewell to the beautiful city of Cusco and take an included transfer to the airport before flying back to Lima. Check into your inviting hotel and savour your last evening amidst the magic of the Peruvian capital.
