Discover The Golden City and City of Music with a fabulous getaway to Prague and Vienna - includes a scenic one-way transfer, tour guide, and flights
Day 1: UK - Prague
Your adventure begins when you arrive at your departure airport, ready to make your way to the Czech Republic. After touching down in Prague, head to your plush hotel for a smooth check in, and then settle into your new surroundings.
Famous for its impressive architecture, rich history and vibrant arts scene, and some of the world’s best beers, it's not hard to see why Prague is one of Europe's most loved city trip destinations. So, hit the streets and explore the area, sample the delicious local cuisine, and indulge in a Czech pilsner, or two, and prepare for a day of city exploration on day two.
Day 2: Prague
The first full day of your adventure will be yours for the taking: it’s time to take Prague by storm. The fairytale capital city of the Czech Republic, Prague has been coined “The Golden City” due to the way its spires, towers, and red-tiled buildings reflect the sunlight. The best way to soak up the golden grandeur of this cosmopolitan beauty is to lose yourself amongst the narrow streets and cobbled courtyards that give the city its magical atmosphere.
Spend your time here roaming the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town and marvelling at the Astronomical Clock, before taking a romantic stroll across Charles Bridge to Prague Castle, and then continue onto a fabulous restaurant for a delicious meal. When the sun has set, look forward to discovering Prague's legendary nightlife! Welcome to Prague, the city that has it all.
With the six-night itinerary, you’ll stay three nights in Prague.
Day 3: Prague - Vienna via a scenic transfer and sightseeing tour
Day three of your adventure brings a scenic one-way transfer to the dreamy destination of Vienna. But, before you reach the City of Music, you’ll have some fabulous sites to visit on the way, and an expert tour guide to provide all the essential facts. Meet your tour group at the Hilton Prague Old Town and set off on a fun-filled travel day turned captivating adventure.
Your first stop will be the UNESCO-listed Kutna Hora Ossuary, also known as the “Bone Church”. This small chapel is not your usual place of worship, but the resting place of an estimated 40,000 to 70,000 human skeletons that have been decoratively arranged - imagine a bone-chic chandelier, draping vertebrae garlands, a coat of arms, and more. No, this isn’t the set of a horror film, although it has been featured in a couple flicks in the past, but a haunting real-life chapel in which a 19th-century woodcarver took a surplus of skeletal remains into his own macabre hands.
After snapping a few pictures with a fibula or two, you’ll head to the historic Mikulov Castle - another fairytale-esque landmark that sits atop a hill overlooking the town of Mikulov. Originally a Slavonic settlement, this stunning castle has seen many different fates, from being a noble residence for thousands of years to suffering extreme damage from fires at the end of World War II. During your stop here, you’ll explore the castle and the Baroque charm of the town below, and then indulge in a world-class wine tasting - when visiting the Czech Republic’s Mikulovská Wine Region, how could you not?
Your final stop will be the grand Lednice Palace. Another UNESCO-listed site, this previous noble residence is one of the Czech Republic’s most visited monuments. The palace’s popularity is no doubt due to its stunning 19th-century Neo-Gothic design and serene setting amidst a lush, sprawling park - one of Europe’s largest. Spend your time here admiring the castle’s architecture and exploring the surrounding flourishing gardens. Then, you’ll be dropped off at your final destination: Vienna.
Day 4: Vienna
Timeless classical music, ornate and elegant architecture, the colourful buzz of the city’s markets and galleries, and the home of café culture – fall in love with Vienna! Offering the perfect blend of culture, delicious food, and relaxing city walks, the Austrian capital was also home to Austria’s royal family for centuries, and the legacy of the Habsburgs is still there for you to enjoy. The grand palaces and beautiful gardens are the perfect place for a stroll, or to take a glimpse back in time to a more opulent way of life.
And finally, Vienna is the home of café culture. If you have a sweet tooth, you’re certain to be spoilt for choice here! Be sure to enjoy a coffee and pastry at the famous Conditorei Sluka, which has been serving Vienna's tastiest cakes for over 125 years.
Then, enjoy a romantic stroll around the city’s impressive architecture in the Old Town, taking in the towering St Stephen’s Cathedral, the opulent Opera House, and the regal palaces that were once home to one of the most distinguished royal houses in Europe – the House of Austria. Snack on a must-have Viennese hot dog from a local Würstelstand, before watching the sunset from one of the city’s vibrant outdoor parks and street spots – it’s no wonder this is called the City of Dreams!
With the six-night itinerary, you’ll stay three nights in Vienna.
